Red Ribbon Week is annually the last week of October. The week of October 26 students will be allowed to dress to match our theme for the day. Even though this is a few weeks away, we wanted to ensure you were aware that it is optional and allow you time to prepare if you need to. Our team created themes that should be easy to match and not require spending extra money. Please not that students must have tennis shoes every day for their safety.

Monday, October 26 - "Follow the Straight LIne, Stay Drug Free": Students may wear striped shirts, striped pants, striped socks, or striped shorts.

Tuesday, October 27 - "Giddy Up to a Drug Free Life": Students may wear their best western gear. We understand students may want to wear boots on this day. That is acceptable, but they must bring a pair of tennis shoes for PE. They cannot participate in PE without tennis shoes. This is for their safety.

Wednesday, October 28 - "Team UP Against Drugs" : Wear your favorite team shirt or team jersey with uniform shorts. Cheer uniforms are acceptable.

Thursday, October 29 - "Dare to Double Up": Students can "twin" with a friend or teacher. No costumes are allowed. Students are encouraged to wear the same outfit as a friend or teacher.

Friday, October 30 "Scare Away Drugs": Students can wear a Halloween shirt or a Halloween colored shirt with uniform bottoms. No costumes.

Report Card Update: Today you received an email that report cards are ready to be viewed. Platt wants to clarify what you are seeing. When you log into your parent portal, you see two links to view.

The first one is the Progress Report (from September), and the second one is the Report Card. We understand that is confusing. That is why we are sending this email to clarify for you. Please reach out if you have questions about viewing the report card. Reach out to your child's teacher if you have a concern with the grades on the Report Card (second link).

Platt will be providing FREE popcorn to ALL students whose parents have completed the Federal Impact Aid Survey. For your child to receive their FREE POPCORN on Wednesday, October 21, you must complete the Federal Impact Aid Survey by 7 pm on October 20. Please note the popcorn day will not be on a regular snack sale day. This is an additional day and will be FREE to students that have completed forms.

This survey only takes 1 - 5 minutes to complete and helps secure important funding for of schools that benefit our students. This is done completely on online.

Your student's access code is the first two letters of their name in ALL CAPS, the first two letters of their last name in ALL CAPS, and their ID number (you can see that on your parent portal). An example of what the access code would look like is attached.

Thank you parents for making our fundraiser a success. We are currently working with the company to organize the limo ride for the students who qualified. As soon as we know more information, we will share it with you.

All the items ordered arrived today and are ready for pickup. If your child has one small box, we can send it home with him/her Tuesday. If your child has more than one box, someone will need to come to Platt to pick up the order. We will have someone at Platt to assist you with getting your items on Monday until 4 pm, Tuesday until 5 pm, and Wednesday until 5 pm.

Cowboy Collaboration the Week of October 12

Monday, October 12 is dedicated to Parent Teacher Conferences. Teachers scheduled conferences before Fall Break. If you missed the sign up from your teacher, please reach out to them. Students will not attend school October 12.

October 13 all students return and report cards will be posted in OnCourse. If you have questions about your child's grade, please reach out to your child's teacher.

Tuesday we will l have the Saints vs the Cowboys for Crab Soccer. Please make sure your child is wearing shorts for this activity.

If your child was absent for picture day, he/she will be able to take pictures on October 14. Please contact Mrs. Cooper for questions.

Friday we will have Snacks Sale along with our Academic Assemblies. We encourage you to not check out your student after the assembly. We are focusing on all students at school each day all day. Please reach out to your child's teacher about award concerns and times for the assembly.

Cowboy Connection for the Week of Sept. 28

Our library is very excited about our Fall Book Fair along with our Goodies with Grandparents. Please note any adult can attend the book fair with your child; it does not have to be a grandparent. If you have questions, please email Molly.Bridges@BossierSchools.org.

We will have a snack sale on Friday. Students who owe fees will not be allowed to purchase snacks.


This Friday wraps up our Attendance Awareness Month! Our students AND teacher were present and ready this month! Friday students who were present all day everyday this week will be allowed to wear neon/bright clothing.

Cowboy Connection for the Week of Sept. 21

This will be our last full week for our fundraiser! Please make sure students are turning in their coupons as they sell their items. This enters them in a drawing each day!

After School Crab Soccer begins this week. If you are planning to watch your child please park in a parking spot. We cannot have cars parked along the curb. All parents must pick up students by 3:50. Monday will be the Eagles vs Cowboys and Tuesday will be Tigers vs Saints. Reach out to Coach Collins for more information.

Our Sparkle Club will meet after school on Tuesday. Please reach out to Mrs. Long for more information.

Friday is another fun filled day. We will have our snack sale, yearbook pictures, and attendance awareness prize!

Snack forms will be sent home early in the early. Please return them as soon as possible.

Yearbook pictures will be taken during the school day. Students must wear their Platt uniform. A QR code will be sent home with your child on Friday. Scan that code and it will alert you when the pictures are ready. You do not need to send money for pictures.

All students who are present all day everyday this week will get a popsicle on Friday.

WOW Parents! September is a month packed with fun and events! We hope the students are enjoying all the fun, but we do want to remind parents that our dress up days are not required. We are trying to keep most of our dress up days simple and centered around things you have already have so we can take that stress off of you. If you like to plan ahead please make sure you are visiting our Platt calendar on our app or the Cowboy Playbook linked on our social media.

Platt will start their Fall Fundraiser on Monday. Packets and information will go home with all students.

Tuesday is DOT day! Students may wear a shirt with dots with uniform bottoms.

Thursday is the HHS Homecoming parade! We hope to see you there. Platt will have some teachers and administration in the parade. To help our Haughton community celebrate homecoming, students are encouraged to wear a Haughton BUCS shirt with uniform bottoms, a Haughton BUCS jersey with uniform bottoms, or a Haughton Bucs Cheer uniform. This is in support of Haughton High School Bucs.

Streetcar Station Snowballs will be on campus on Friday. All money was due 9/11. Students who preordered will get their treat on Friday.

Friday also wraps up our week 3 for Attendance Awareness. All students who are present all day every day Monday - Thursday (doctor's notes are accepted) will be allowed to wear camo on Friday. They may wear a camo shirt, a camo jacket, or camo pants. Please no hats. If students are not wearing camo pants, they need to wear uniform bottoms.

Platt is very excited about the Military Club's first meeting Friday morning.

Cowboy Connection for the week of September 7

All schools will be closed on Monday for the Labor Day Holiday.

Wednesday, September 9 students will be allowed to wear their brightest yellow or gold shirt to support Louisiana Pediatric Cancer Awareness Day. Students must wear uniform bottoms.

This is our second week in our Attendance Awareness month. All students who are at school ALL day EVERY day this week will be allowed to wear a patriotic shirt, a red shirt, a white shirt, or a blue shirt with uniform bottoms on Friday as we "Pledge to be Present".

Students will not attend school on Monday, September 7 due to Labor Day.

Friendly Reminder of the Events happening 9/4!

It is Platt's first Snack Sale Day! Order forms were sent home already. Please complete the form and make sure it is turned in first thing Friday morning.

ALL students may wear a Haughton shirt to school tomorrow to support the first HHS home football game! BPAR shirt are not allowed. This needs to be a Haughton or Bucs shirt. Buc jerseys and cheer uniforms are accepted. Students will wear their uniform bottoms.

Platt's attendance rate was 96% this week! All students who were present or had an excused absence will receive a treat tomorrow!

Heads up Parents!!!

Friday is the first football game for Haughton High School. We want to support our community school by sporting our favorite Haughton shirts, jerseys, or cheer uniform. This is for Haughton gear only. Students must wear their uniform bottoms with their shirts and jerseys.

Friday will also be our first Snack Sale! This money supports the Platt Hospitality. An order form will come home this week with your child. If you want to order, please complete the form and turn it.

This week also kicks off our Attendance Awareness Month! All students who are here ALL day EVERY day this week will be a treat on Friday!

Second grade has a fun event planned at the end of their unit. We are excited about our dress up day on August 28. Please reach out to your teacher for more information. This is only for 2nd grade students.

Don't forget about our Parent Teacher Team Huddle on Tuesday. This is a time to learn about the expectations of Platt and our curriculum. This is not the same thing as Meet the Teacher. This meeting will provide you with more information on how to help make your child successful.
